Heinz Kohlmeier, German Language Consultant Los Angeles, September 2005 Dear Parents, Students and Teachers CONGRATULATIONS After all your efforts your dream has come true. The Seattle area has a German American immersion school ! As the German Language Consultant assigned to the Consulate General Los Angeles, it is one of my missions to help develop and to support German-American immersion programs. The German government is especially interested in recognizing and assisting excellent programs so that they become models to foster the important and long standing German-American relations. It is in both state’s interest to educate students with an open mind for tolerance and international multicultural understanding in a bi-cultural bi-lingual environment. I understand, the school in the long run is tailoring a service to the interested American public, desiring challenging American and German-International diplomas for access to the most distinguished universities world-wide. The best of American, German and international educational standards sponsor ü Understanding of other cultures and languages ü Global citizens ü Future leaders Intellectual and personal development The unique way to achieve those qualities is ü Acquiring native mastery in German through immersion ü Learning up to two other languages in a multicultural school setting ü Language proficiency by studying subjects in several languages ü Special support in individual cases The German Language Consultantü Sponsors the program according to the ongoing development ü Provides consultancy to the school ü Supervises the administration of the German curriculum ü Connects the school to a world network of similar schools ü Sponsors continuity I will visit the school on a regular basis and provide support for further development. Along with American standards there will also be an ongoing rigorous quality assessment by the German language consultant on teaching, curriculum and school atmosphere that will be published to spur permanent refinement. Thank you, for your efforts and achievements. May the students and school prosper.
With kind regards Heinz Kohlmeier
